Bird Watching in the Mountain Jungle
San Lorenzo
Our meeting point is at the entrance gate to Reserva del Huaico located on Mariano Moreno Street at the back in Villa San Lorenzo, at 08:00 AM. After a brief introductory talk about the nature that surrounds us, we will begin our ornithological walk with a slight climb along well-maintained trails that enter the true Yungas environment with an abundance of native trees such as Tipas, Ceibos and Laureles. Taking the Los Helechos trail - which is precisely characterized by a spectacular abundance and diversity of ferns - we will reach panoramic points with impressive views over the Lerma Valley and Villa San Lorenzo. Throughout the tour our guide will help us locate and identify the species of wild birds that live in the Yungas: Hummingbirds, Fruit-eaters, Guans, Parrots, Woodpeckers, Toucans and even the emblematic Andean Condor are possible observations during any time of the year. anus. From the Mirador de las Rapaces we will have a good chance of finding a Black Eagle or even the rare Black Eagle, Sparrowhawks and Falcons. Then we will begin our descent towards the Arroyo Castalia huaico where we have the possibility of encountering some mammals such as Corzuelas, Ferrets, Mountain Foxes and more Yungueña birdlife. We will return to the starting point around noon, making a complete turn in a gentle descent.
