Cabra Corral Dam

This water dam, the second largest nationally in addition to the main water reserve in the Argentine Northwest, has 127 km2 of water and is the ideal place to carry out countless water activities.
In Cabra Corral there is a wide range of activities to enjoy, such as bungee jumping, zip line from the bridge, banana rides and a walk around the islands, jet skis, canoeing, water skiing. Also not to be missed are the walks and fishing on catamarans and, of course, fishing from the bridge of the Dam, an activity in high demand that brings together fishermen from the surrounding area to taste the most popular species, the silverside.
Lake procession of the Virgin of Itatí
The emotional and picturesque nautical procession in honor of the Virgin of Itatí, patron saint of sailors, is a must. Accompanied by the Police Music Band and the prayers of the faithful, over the last 20 years this unique procession has become an event that brings together hundreds of Salta residents and tourists. The Virgin is raised on a catamaran and later followed by numerous private and official boats. The lake transfer is free on the catamarans and generally they depart from their ports in El Préstamo and Conea.
Ablome Bay
In a paradisiacal environment in the southern sector of the dam there is an ancient rock art site; these manifestations exposed in the open air, were declared a Historical and Artistic Asset of the Cultural Patrimony of the Nation. It is worth noting the conservation of the colors of the figures represented by the Calchaquí and Amazonian cultures, where the contrasts of white, red and black stand out. You can visit the place by hiring boats with authorized local guides, given the fragility of the space.
Quebrada de los Cóndores
This area keeps a unique ecosystem; in spring and summer life explodes, chicks of various species flutter, while condors majestically fly over the peaks that are reflected in the water with the sharpness of a mirror. Also, due to the fragility of the environment, you can only visit the place by hiring boats with authorized local guides.
Local flora and fauna
Trees such as cebiles, lapachos, tipas, alders, walnuts, epiphytes, carob trees, cardones, chañares, molle, churquis and palo borracho stand out. As for the fauna, you can see a large number of different birds such as herons, ducks, condors, guans, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, parrots, doves, herons and owls; great variety of aquatic turtles, mammals such as miquilo, otters, corzuelas, armadillos, pumas, wild cats, bats, foxes, collared peccary. As for reptiles there are iguanas, lizards and snakes. Of the fish fauna there are silversides, catfish, toothy fish, mojarras, catfish, vogue, tarpon and dorados.
