Town of Campo Santo
Located 63 km (59 min) from Salta, it stands out for its strong historical profile, since it was a privileged scenario of the Gaucho War and the defense of the northern border by Belgrano. An unmissable visit is to the church and the beautiful promenade that surrounds it, with the famous Algarrobo Histórico, the Bernardino Rivadavia Central Square and the Campo Santo Museum.
Historic Carob Tree
This characteristic specimen of the area is considered "historical tree" because in its shade rested General Belgrano in 1812 when he was organizing his army to go to Jujuy, in the exodus from Jujuy and in his passage in 1813 from Tucumán to the Battle of Salta. Also here was tied the wife of Don Juan José Fernández Cornejo, Doña Gertrudis Medeiros, when she was taken prisoner by the royalists for her collaboration with the patriots.
Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria Church
The church of Campo Santo, founded in 1782, has as its patron saint Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria. It is a beautiful building that surprises in front of the town square, with its colonial design, thick adobe walls and its Cuzco paintings that make it an architectural relic of Salta.
Patron Saint Festival
In February the town of Campo Santo celebrates its patronal feast in honor of Our Lady of La Candelaria. You can enjoy folkloric evenings, craftsmen's fair, presentation of native dances and tango.
El Milagrito
The Milagrito is a traditional celebration after the great procession that takes place in the capital of the province, during the month of September. In this way the inhabitants of the town also honor the patron saints of Salta from their place of origin.
Campo Santo Museum
Near the main square, this museum preserves important pieces of historical and cultural value, as well as archaeological pieces that belonged to the San Francisco culture. The museum arose from an initiative in 1999, as a result of archaeological findings within the premises of Termo Andes, a gas generating company in the town of Cobos, near the municipality of Campo Santo.

Fortín Gaucho of Campo Santo
It is one of the gaucho groups that best preserves those ancient tactics of war with the horse. Wearing their ponchos, their guardamontes and their leather hats, they congregate once a year, every June 17, to pay homage to the hero in a heartfelt Guardia Bajo las Estrellas (Guard under the Stars).
Sugarcane fields landscape
The most important crop that stands out in the tour is sugar cane, concentrated in the surroundings of Campo Santo, Güemes and Cobos, covering an area of 3,000 hectares in the area of Betania, Campo Santo and El Bordo. The San Isidro sugar mill was founded by the Royal Militia Colonel Juan Adrián Fernández Cornejo in 1760, who introduced sugar cane from Peru, where he was born, and installed his mill in the primitive "Hacienda de la Viña de Siancas" whose crops gradually progressed giving rise to the first sugar mill in the country.
Cuesta del Gallinato
It is one of the accesses to Campo Santo through National Route No. 9. From the Department of La Caldera begins this road of approximately 25 km that attracts by its natural characteristics, to which is added that the road is not asphalted, resulting wild and attractive.
Trekking, mountain biking and hiking through La Cuesta
It is a green and dense landscape that surrounds this route, where there is lush vegetation and you can see wildlife in the area. Ideal for the practice of activities in contact with nature. Trekking Cerro de la Cruz viewpoint It is 6 km from the town of Campo Santo and can be visited throughout the year. In 1860, the owner of the hacienda El Carmen, Don Benito Cornejo, asked the ecclesiastical authorities to authorize this chapel for his family and farm workers. Since then, Our Lady of Carmen, patron saint of the town of Betania, has been venerated in this chapel.
Cobos
