A picturesque town in the Lerma Valley
Coronel Moldes is a picturesque town located on the road to Cafayate, 62 km from the city of Salta. Not to be missed is to walk around the town visiting the old mansions, many of them true relics of the seventeenth century, drink mate brewed by the ladies of Moldes in the square, flavored with natural herbs and accompanied by homemade buns and tortillas baked on sight, visit the craft fairs that are held every weekend in high season and visit the Church of San Bernardo.

Church of San Bernardo
Where today is located the San Bernardo Church, there was until 1787 a small chapel that was replaced by the current church as a result of population growth.

Puerta de Díaz Dam
This small dam is located 4 km from National Route No. 68, its function is to supply water for human consumption and irrigation and dates from the dawn of the twentieth century. It is a natural space surrounded by lush vegetation, ideal for trekking, fishing and camping with municipal authorization.
Folkloric Festivals in Coronel Moldes
The locality has an important calendar of festivals that take place during the year and that summon artists of provincial and national renown, with tasting of regional foods and gaucho skills. To mention some of them, the Festival Moldes, Encanto y Tradición in August, Reviviendo Tradiciones Gauchas in November, Festival Los Moldeños in September stand out.
Cabra Corral Dam
This hydric dam, second in size at national level as well as the main hydric reserve of the Argentine Northwest, has 127 Km2 of water and it is the ideal place to carry out an infinity of aquatic activities. The journey to get to the water mirror is 11 km long and the road goes through agricultural farms, they are family farms, where tobacco, alfalfa, corn, aromatic herbs, chili, paprika are grown.

In Cabra Corral there is a wide range of activities to enjoy, such as bungee jumping, ziplining from the bridge, banana rides and walks around the islands, jet skis, canoeing, water skiing. Also not to be missed are the catamaran rides and fishing in catamarans and of course fishing from the bridge of the dam, an activity of high demand that summons fishermen from the surroundings to taste the most popular species, the pejerrey.
Ablome Bay
In a paradisiacal environment in the southern sector of the dam there is a millenary site of rock art that for years has been waiting to become a protected area. These rupestrian manifestations exposed in the open air were declared a Historic and Artistic Asset of the National Cultural Heritage. It is to emphasize the conservation of the colors of the figures represented by the Calchaquí and Amazonian cultures, where the contrasts of whites, reds and blacks stand out. Quebrada de los Cóndores (Condor Gorge)
This area keeps a unique ecosystem; in spring and summer life bursts, chicks of different species flap their wings, while the condors majestically fly over the peaks that are reflected in the water with the clarity of a mirror. You can visit the place by hiring boats with authorized local guides, given the fragility of the space.
Juramento River
This singular river is of great natural and historical importance. The Monumento a la Bandera (Flag Monument) is located there, since this is the place where the national flag was sworn in for the first time. In the area of the Cabra Corral Dam, the tour is spectacular, winding along the Provincial Route No. 47. Its flow is immense, along the river there are magnificent vertical walls that reach great height. At approximately Km 35, you can observe a beautiful fossil wave with the famous dinosaur footprints, and further on you can see the green rocks called Peñas Azules (Blue Rocks). This natural itinerary was formed about 65 million years ago, between the Mezozoic and Cenozoic eras.

It is a private museum, where guided visits are made. You can see the American history in the region represented through pieces corresponding to each archaeological stage. From the time of hunter-gatherers 10,000 years ago to the time of commercial exchanges, everything is described through unique pieces that testify the pre-Columbian life of the region explained through explanatory plates and photos that make it very entertaining.
