Easily accessible, it is connected by route 34, towards Tucumán, with the south of the country and by the same route towards Jujuy with the north and with Bolivia and Chile.

To the east by National Route 16, towards Chaco, with the coast and with Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.

Tourist attractions of El Galpón

There are buildings of considerable historical, cultural and architectural value in the area of this town, which today can be exhibited as representative of the history and the outline of our identity.

The Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports of the Municipality of El Galpón has scheduled guided tours of the most outstanding places in the historic center.

El Tunal Dam

El Tunal Dam is located 36 km. from El Galpón following National Route 16. It has a hydroelectric power plant integrated to the National Interconnected System. This water mirror is surrounded by wild vegetation, characteristic of the Chaco mountain, where nautical activities and sport fishing can be practiced, including dorado, tararira, shad, catfish, boga, and pejerrey. There are facilities where you can spend the night such as 'Club 20 de Febrero' and 'Club Empleados del Gas'.

You can also rent services for the fisherman and the family such as rafts, boats, barbecues and bungalows.

Juramento River

Less than 1 kilometer to the west of the city passes the Pasaje or Juramento river where there is a place to camp or spend an afternoon playing sports such as volleyball or soccer.

There is also a place for fishing, where magnificent specimens of dorados, catfish or shad can be obtained.

The access can be made in vehicles, bicycles, walking or riding from the town.

On the way you will pass by a Mataco settlement, primitive inhabitants of the area.

Aguas Calientes

Located 9 km from El Galpón is the place called Aguas Calientes.

The water, rich in minerals, which comes from natural springs at temperatures ranging between 38º and 40º Celsius, is carried through channels to pools through which it passes, allowing its use as a therapeutic or comforting bath, especially in the winter period.

Cerro Colorado

It is located 40 km. from the town following the provincial route nº 31. In it there are a series of rocky promontories with natural undercuts and overhangs where there are cave paintings.

Jesuit Ruins

In the proximities of El Galpón there are remains of Jesuit constructions from the end of the XVII century that were part of the missions that functioned until the second half of the XVIII century and their reductions of Lules, Isistines and Toquistines Indians, natives of the region, such as San Esteban de Miraflores, located 16 Km away, where the famous Tower of Bricks and other remains are preserved.
