General Ballivian
SELVA DE MONTAÑA
General Ballivián is a town in the Department of General José de San Martín, in the north of the province and 299 km (3 hours) from Salta capital.
It is located between two very rich and fertile areas: the subtropical jungle and the Salta Chaco. It belongs to the so-called "Bermejo Region" and is at the foot of the picturesque sierras of Tartagal. In the municipality the extensive cattle activity predominates and the main production of the area is soybean.
In July the Patron Saint's Day of the Virgen del Carmen is celebrated. In the morning the celebration begins with a bomb salute, community baptisms, a picturesque civic parade, a show for the little ones and at noon a great popular lunch with dancing is served.
