Many ancestral techniques are preserved to this day through generations of artisans transmitting indigenous popular knowledge. Products manufactured by local producers can be purchased in different artisan markets located in the municipalities.

In the vallistos towns, we find one of the most important traditions of Creole loom weaving. There they make blankets, rugs, tapestries, ponchos, fabrics such as picote and barracán, belts and bags. While the aboriginal communities in the northeast of the province work with a vegetable fiber called "chaguar", to make original fabrics, bags and belts.


The production of baskets, in pennyroyal and symbol, typical of the south of the Calchaquí Valley, is also counted among the Salta handicrafts. Ceramics with drawings and designs typical of pre-Hispanic pottery are found in towns such as Cachi, Cafayate and San Carlos.
Wood carvers are concentrated in the northern zone, taking advantage of the abundance of material in jungles and forests. The Wichís use noble woods of brilliant colors, such as palo santo, guayacán, quebracho and mistol.


Creole handicrafts related to the gaucho tradition and country life are made of leather, horn and silver. While the Chané culture produces masks in yuchán wood or drunk stick, in the Chaco area
