Las Lajitas

VALLE HISTÓRICO Y GAUCHO

It is located in the Anta department, 210 km (2h 30min) from the provincial capital and belongs to the Chaco Semiarid Agroecological Area. It produces cereals, beans, oilseeds and wood. The rains from 600 to 800 mm, between October and May.

Created in 1940 in the area "Piquete de Anta", being called "El Piquete" until 1948. Later it was transferred to its current location, among other reasons, due to the railway line that would benefit it. Its original economy was based on logging. As of the 1970s, the cultivation of cereals began to be developed, mainly soybeans, currently being the main producer in the province.

Combination of rural and urban life

The great relevance of this town is due to the strong productive growth and the continuous incorporation of technology. Its pedestrian, casino, churches and squares make the city the ideal place to combine rural work with urban life.

There is a wide range of hotels where you can stay to enjoy the city and its surroundings.

For lovers of fishing, the Juramento River is ideal to enjoy a day doing this activity in a natural landscape of great magnitude.

El Rey National Park

It is an ideal place to visit in the area. It has an area of more than 44,000 ha, contains samples of the Yungas and Chaco Seco ecoregions, enclosed by amazing mountain ranges. You can do trekking and bird watching, where the nature of the place astonishes whoever goes through it

Patronal Festival

On June 13 it celebrates its patronal festival in honor of San Antonio de Padua. This celebration dates back to 1952, when Don Emilio Fay, an obrajero in the area, built a small chapel to house the image of this Saint. Every June 13, the Fay family took him out in procession through the streets of the town, until he was declared the Saint of that place, by the ecclesiastical authorities. When the main church was built in it, the same image of the Saint that was donated by the Fay family was enthroned.
