Villa San Lorenzo

Ciudad de Salta y destinos cercanos

Only 15 minutes from the city of Salta, amidst the greenery of the Yungas, the sounds of birds and at the foot of a ravine, San Lorenzo is the ideal place to practice adventure tourism or to rest.

Summer Villa

14 km (15 min) from the city of Salta, it was founded in 1889 as a summer village and today it is a country and modern destination at the same time.

Guardian of its traditions, it is advisable to participate in the town's big festival, which takes place in August, where the patron saint, San Lorenzo Mártir, is honored, with a meeting of misachicos, a gaucho parade and a traditional procession of religious images through the streets of the location; After the religious celebration, a great dressage and folklore festival takes place.

San Lorenzo ravine

The San Lorenzo River, its grove and a nice interpretive walk of the culture, flora and fauna of the place, ensure a very entertaining afternoon, ideal for enjoying some mates next to the river. Its scenic beauty is due to the microclimate that develops there and gives it permanent greenery and an enormous diversity of birds. The area has parking areas, rest areas, camping, a tourist information office, gastronomic and craft shops and stalls.

Ideal setting for adventure and nature activities

The slopes of the San Lorenzo mountains have the almost constant presence of clouds, this allows the development of a wide biodiversity, both in flora and fauna, where more than 250 species of birds stand out. This is why the municipality is home to several Protected areas that preserve natural resources, generating an ideal environment for horseback riding, trekking, riding bicycles and/or ATVs, and even paragliding.

Yungas Municipal Reserve
This reserve has 4 trails for safe trekking, all duly signposted and crowned by Cerro Elefante from where paragliding flights are carried out. The tourist information office has staff who register and assist visitors. The circuits of each trail can be scanned on the signage using a QR code. Another trail, known as “Elefante Tail” connects this reserve with the Finca Las Costas Provincial Reserve.
